WITH NO LAND
Operation Salomon in 1991 that led to the immigration of 15,000 Ethiopian Jews to Israel in 36 hours. Shedding light for the first time on the Ethiopian Jewish activists who enabled the operation, and how history repeats itself in 2021.
TRANSITIONS
Mimi (18) reconstructs her immigration story. Through a stream of consciousness, memories from the past mix with present and future as her identity dissolves between Ethiopia and Israel.
About us
Black and White Films was founded in 2012 by filmmakers Kobi and Aalam-Warqe Davidian. The production house specializes in feature-length documentaries, short fiction films, and historical testimonial archives, while providing full directing, production, and co-production services in close collaboration with leading film funds and major broadcasters in Israel and internationally.

Fig Tree (Feature, 94min, 2018) – An Israel-Germany-France-Ethiopia co-production (Black Sheep Film Productions, Medien Penrose, En Compagnie Des Lamas). Winner of the Eurimages Audentia Award for Best Female Director at TIFF 2018, the Israeli Academy (Ophir) Award for Best Cinematography, and Best Script at the Sam Spiegel International Film Lab.
Facing the Wall (Short Fiction, 26min, 2016) – Black Sheep Film Productions. Winner of Best Short Film at the Jerusalem Film Festival and Best Independent Short at the Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival.
Selected external works:
Turbulence (Documentary, 85min, 2011) – yes Docu (co-directed and co-produced with Roni Livneh). An investigative cinematic journey reopening the Dafna Carmon murder case to exonerate four innocent men after 27 years in prison. The film was screened at major festivals and is studied in the law faculties of Harvard, Duke, and Tel Aviv Universities.
